I’m not usually one for political rhetoric, especially on the internet. You can usually find me with my head buried in the sand, privately hating the world and feeling ashamed to be human. Everyday I open a paper, or log on to social media and I’m presented with more news that leaves me crushed and with a heavy heart. On the last album we did, Apnea, I wrote a song called ‘The Realest’ which I hoped would go unnoticed and generally it did. It’s a song about the struggle of living in a world full of discrimination, prejudice and injustice. I wanted this song to go unnoticed because, although I wanted to write down my worries, I did not want to have to explain them to people. The recent trend in the US of police murdering black people and getting away with it feels me with pure sadness. I’m lucky to live in the UK where it is nowhere near as bad (trust me we have our own problems too!) but my father, mother, brothers, sister, nephews and nieces all live in the states and I’m genuinely terrified that any of them could be next. However, the outpouring of support and protest against these horrible injustices fills me with so much hope for the world and has given me the courage to write this and hope for a better tomorrow. Basically all I’m trying to say is whoever you are, wherever you are and whatever your cause, thank you for speaking out and fighting for a better world. Whether you are behind a computer screen or on the streets. I promise I will try to do better. You rule. - T https://youtube/watch?v=0wxgjrFklE8
