I’m quitting from selling beats. My heart is not in it anymore. I started selling beats as an Atheist in 2008. But when I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 2011 the Lord changed my heart. Ever since then, I really had no more passion to sell music. He has me working on Errol Apparel instead, and some other things. Stats that I’m very grateful for: Total Plays: 9,045,889 Lease Sales: 2176 Exclusive Sales: 150 (Will update these numbers when I actually post it) Advice for producers: -Broke rappers will try to get free beats from you…Ignore them. -Fine female singers will try to get free beats from you…Ignore them. -Quit complaining about how you’re lacking in sales…Nobody cares. Complaining about no sales won’t get you sales. -Don’t buy those PDF’s on “How to make money off selling beats” or whatever. It’s better to enjoy making music than to love the money you make from sales. -Putting your phone number on your site will result in wannabe rappers leaving freestyles on your voicemail and at the end, them saying “SIGN ME TO YOUR LABEL!” -Holla at Ar1es for GFX! -All the best drum kits I’ve gotten I have paid for. Free drum kits have a 98% chance of being garbage. -When you make $$, don’t waste the money! I’ve made this mistake and I’m still facing the consequences! Be wise! Save! Invest in advertising and VST’s/equipment! And most important of all, bless others! -Don’t try to buddy buddy bigger producers that make $. We all know that you’re just trying to use our name to get your name out there. -You ask “how do you make sales”? Nothing beats the enjoyment of just creating music and having fun. That’s what really makes sales. Advice for Artist: -If you can’t afford Exclusives, don’t be too prideful to purchase leases. -If you can’t go on tour then you’re not getting anywhere. If you can’t travel and perform, then quit. -If you can’t afford a lease, then you can’t afford to travel and perform. -Negotiate everything! Even if it’s leases! -STOP SPAMMING PEOPLES PAGES AND STOP SPAMMING EMAILS! IF YOU WANT NOBODY TO LIKE YOU THEN KEEP SPAMMING! WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD SOMEONE SAY “I KEPT SPAMMING EVERYBODY AND NOW I’M FAMOUS!” -Before buying a beat. Ask if they can customize it just to see what they say. If they won’t edit something small for a lease then you probably shouldn’t work with them. -If you don’t have $ for producers then they don’t wanna talk to you. -If you don’t have a solid team behind you, your career is going nowhere. So this is my last month on Soundclick and I know how much they don’t care about producers. I can understand why they hate producers so much though. It’s because they wanted their site to have all kinds of music but it ended up becoming a beat selling site. I hope they find it in their heart to start treating Producers right and just accept what the site has become. I bet if they started treating their customers’ right they would actually have success stories. My myFlashStore profile closes on the November 3rd. The owner of this site has been really cool and down to earth. I hope all producers would use their service because they actually care about their customers. So since I’m closing up shop, all my beats are on sale for cheap. Even though I’m not selling beats online anymore I know I’ll still do customs. P.S. Go buy an Errol Apparel T-Shirt already!
