I’ve always felt God had blessed me with more then I’ve needed in life, which I’ve always appreciated, and bc of this I’ve always felt in my heart that one of my callings in my life time has been to give some of that blessing back. So yesterday on my way home from work I turn on 103.5 KTU, and as I’m driving I hear Cindy Vero talking to the Volunteers of “Volunteers of America” and their Organization “Operation Backpack.” As I continue to listen, I learn how the Organization each year since 2001, has been giving new backpacks filled with schools supplies to children in NYC homeless and domestic violence shelters. After a while a Volunteer then spoke about an experience she witnessed between an older and younger brother at one of the Shelters, which touched my heart. Ever since then I’ve been thinking about starting my own similar organization, something small, where I’ll take one of my checks every month or so and fill up a few school backpacks with supplies, etc., and head down to one of the homeless shelters here in my borough, The Bronx, and give them out to unfortunate, homeless children. I may not raise 15,000 filled backpacks like “Operation Backpack”, but maybe I can still change some lives
