I’ve been coughing and sniffling for three weeks (my first cold for many years). It didn’t interfere with my work in Vienna and I thought it would go away quickly, but it’s got worse since my return to Dublin. So I saw my GP yesterday and he prescribed a penicillin antibiotic. Unfortunately the coughing has exacerbated my hiatal hernia (a chronic condition that’s relatively harmless but causes occasional pain beneath the ribcage). Thank goodness I have no work to do at the moment.
