I’ve been in trouble again!... Decided to walk down to the mall - TopicsExpress

I’ve been in trouble again!... Decided to walk down to the mall this afternoon just to buy a few things and spend a bit of time looking around the shops. Got to the corner here and heard this terrible screaming and barking behind a high fence on the corner and looked through the slats and saw 2 Pit-bull dogs savaging a little pup which was screaming. I yelled out and banked the umbrella handle on the fence and they left the pup and came over to bark at me. The poor little pup was just laying there stretched out on the ground and I thought it was dead. I couldn’t get into the yard because the gate had a chain and padlock on it. Every time they stopped barking at me the one dog kept going back to savage the little pup. I ran up the stairs and shouted and banged on the door but no one home. Raced to the neighbours on both sides but no one came. I saw the pup move and start to crawl on it’s stomach over to a post and then it just lay there with it’s face pushed into the grass and I thought it was dead for sure. Didn’t know what to do but just happened to have the RSPCA number in my phone so called them and they said they would send someone out. Waited for 45 minutes and no one came. I had to stay because every time I walked away the one dog kept circling the pup. Thought of climbing up on the rubbish bin and getting over the fence but knew the dogs would attack me and I’m not as nimble on my feet as I was. A car pulled up with a woman and some kids in and I raced over and asked if they lived here and yes, they did. Told them and the woman just said that, “Oh they play rough some times!”... I’d had enough by this time so told her that there was no playing it was fair dinkum and I didn’t know if it was dead or not. She went in and picked it up and the little thing started to shiver and whimper and she said it was OK which I knew wasn’t right at all but what could I do? Told her the RSPCA was on its way and walked off and I called them and said the lady was home. They said they would call just the same to see if it was really all right. Augh!!!! I really didn’t need that upset! I walked down to the mall and was still upset and shaking, forgot the things I was going to buy and bought some things I didn’t need and walked home. Worst thing was I had to pass the house again to get home and thought the woman would probably throw knives at me. Heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the car wasn’t there but an old man in a yard stopped me to tell me the RSPCA had roared up and screeched to a stop outside the place and, wouldn’t you know it...just then the woman arrived back in her car and I had to walk right past her so I thought “bugger her” and walked past and smiled and waved and kept walking. She just looked at me. I have the feeling she might have just returned from the vet up the road..... I know I keep saying that Robinson Caruso didn’t know when he was well off on that island alone and every time I say it I mean it more and more. I think I’ve had enough of people! Oh and to top it all off, I went into the Reject Shop to get something and when I lined up at the counter and went to pay for it the assistant looked at my umbrella, which is new, and said, “Do you want to pay for the umbrella as well?” ( making out I was going to walk out without paying)..... to which I replied that unless they were selling umbrellas with my name printed on the inside, no I didn’t want to pay for it!... I think a cup of coffee, something nice to eat and a movie to watch is called for and if I don’t kick the bucket during the night I will be back tomorrow.
