I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on a certain person that I know very well. I’ve observed that their walk with God isn’t always what it should be. At times they seem to detour off track. Self-righteousness has been known to make an appearance and on other occasions the flesh becomes painfully obvious. Every now and then even the ugly face of worldliness is evidenced. It can be very disappointing to behold. For the most part, this person is an “on fire” believer, standing strong in the faith, pursuing God with all that they have. They reveal a love for people, both saved and lost, edifying by truth those that they encounter. After watching closely for quite some time I’ve concluded that God must be very patient and long-suffering with our personal shortcomings. He obviously gives all of us time to willingly conform to His image and His ways. But keeping things in balance, we must also bear in mind that God’s mercy is not an excuse to travel in a wrong direction. We are not to make ourselves at home with lifestyles that are unbiblical.
