I’ve got no spectacular announcement to make, nothing special to mention, no real news. But I wanted to stay in touch. So below, in no particular order, are some random things I’ve been thinking about/considering/pondering lately in the event that you would like to think about/consider/ponder them too: • This is the start of Canadian Library Month (how‘s that for an excuse for a party?) • Can’t wait for the new Mad Max movie. The trailer (at https://youtube/watch?v=iO0jUAzOsV8&feature=youtu.be) is one of the coolest I’ve seen. Turn up the volume (if you’re in the library, grab some headphones). • In 2013/14 there were 897,614 visits to this library – an increase of 29% over the previous year and an all-time record! Wow. • George Clooney has his own water taxi and driver for when he’s in Venice? Son of a … • 99 % of people in the Library put their trash away. Time for the other 1 % to join them • Go to Saturday’s football game. Sure, the Huskies are having a tough season but that’s all the more reason to support them. • I wonder what Joey Ramone would think of U2’s new tribute to him • Unless your deck is about 3 feet off the ground, it might be a good idea for outdoor get-togethers this weekend to be held on grass. It’s what students did before the deck was invented. • I’m reading a book called Life: A User’s Manual. Wish I’d read it a long time ago. • Wish I was going to the Daniel Lanois concert tonight • Happy October! • One month down, seven to go Get back to work.
