I’ve just been informed that someone from my past has decided to label me a heretic and an apostate and that this person’s intention is to inform the people of Moloka’i to be careful of me. Apparently, simply quoting Scripture and making various connections with other passages in the Tanakh (or “Old Testament”) merits this consequence, especially when I fail to interject my theology and personal beliefs into the simple understanding of the text. So, if you’re an adherent of the Conservative Fundamental Evangelical Doctrinal tenants of Christian Orthodoxy revealed at Pentecost, you may be getting an impassioned and charismatic letter, phone call, e-mail, text, Skype, Facebook message, and/or Tweet that will encourage you to watch out for me, except for the purpose of evangelism.
