J Del Valle A buddy and I rode Alafia today and demoed Giant Bikes. He rode an Anthem and I rode the 27.5 Trance. As a point of reference, I ride a Diamondback Recoil 29er that weighs at least 35 lbs. The Trance I rode was the $5500 all carbon one with a remote dropper post. I rode the Trance with my Time ATACs to try to compare to my bike. The Trance felt like a feather compared to mine. Also, the Trances acceleration is light years beyond my Recoil. That said, the grip of the Schwalbe Nobby NICs on the Trance didnt hold on like the Navegals on my bike, even when I was just pushing it a little. What really surprised me was that the suspension seemed the same to me. I rode some of Bridges, some of River Loop, and most of North Creek, and the ride felt the same on my Recoil and the Trance. My buddy rides an old 26 inch mongoose, and he liked the feel of the Anthems ride, but was getting used to the bigger wheels and bike. We didnt switch because he was on flat pedals.
