J. H. Boude Judge John H. Boude is now one of the oldest citizens of Augusta. He was born in this place May 1, 1825, and he, and Hon. T. F. Marshall are the two oldest native citizens now living in Augusta. Judge Boude received his early education in the public schools, but he later attended Augusta College, and graduated from that institution in 1843. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1847. He removed to Brooksville in 1850, and held the offices of County Attorney and County Judge. He returned to Augusta in 1873, and since that time has held the offices of City Attorney and Mayor of Augusta. The ancestors of Judge Boude were among the earliest residents of this city, coming from Pennsylvania in 1796, and his father was one of the first trustees in which the title of Augusta was vested. He has been one of the most prominent factors in the celebration of Augustas centennial. From an 1897 edition of Headlight: Sights and Scenes Along the C. & O. Route which featured Augusta.
