J. W. -- I have been reading and enjoying your posts. I love your optimism and hope some rubs off on me. I respect your privacy, but could you tell me a little something about you. You seemed to be well versed in the liberal movement. Suzette Sommer-- I am an optimist because my great grandparents and grandparents told me about their memories - including Civil War, Great Depression, Dust Bowl, Labor Movement, two World Wars, sailing around the world on the Great White Fleet. And about their lives as farmers, ranchers, sometimes living in sod huts on the prairie in Kansas and in Canada... Much more hardship than people today can even imagine. Fixing our problems now is a piece of cake compared to what they went through. They lived in the horse and buggy era til the man landed on the moon and beyond, and had to adapt to all that change. We will do fine once people get annoyed enough to pay attention. I already watched the EPA be born and change our country - and now we need to reinforce it again... it has been beaten down by Republicans. Same on everything else we achieved by hard work in the 60s and 70s. The libs and Democrats have been super lazy - took it all for granted - They were ahead for about 30 some years, then began to lose and did not fight back - the conservatives have been winning more and more for 40 years - now it is time for the pendulum to swing the other way again. Each generation has to learn for themselves, it seems. Too bad more do not read history. All we have to do now is repeat the Progressive Movement that came after the Gilded Age. History is about to be repeated.
