JAMAICA PARTY ROCKED NORWAY! The inaugural JAMAICA PARTY in Tromso, Norway on Tuesday night Aug. 12 was a blast with hundreds of chess players and other patrons turning out to Bar # 24 including many grandmasters. World Chess Champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen hung out with the Jamaican crew and partied for a long time, dancing to the pulsating music. Persons from numerous countries enjoyed the Reggae beat from people like Jimmy Cliff, Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Third World, Sizzla et al. Bob Marleys songs were, of course, the rave as persons from across several continents sang along to the Tuff Gongs immortal music ! It was a tremendous experience to hear the Bar rock in beautiful unison. The Jamaicans, aided by the Trini posse, formed a train (joined by people such as ChessVibes Peter Doggers) and this added tremendous excitement as it choo chooed throughout the throng!. Trinidads We ready for di road proved a grand finale thumping the place and leading to massive jumping and singing of the chorus. At 3 am the music had to be stopped (!!) and patrons kept shouting we want music, we want music! People reluctantly left approaching 3:30 am. Wednesday August 11 is the 2nd and final rest day at the World Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Vice-Presidential elections are scheduled to be held. Norway is 7 hrs. ahead of Jamaica. PICS. 1.
