JAMES RANCH 6/29 /2013 THE WAGON TRAIN GANG group of trail riders on the annual Birdell Wagon Train sits around the campfire singing old time gospel songs everyone is familiar with. A quartet, participants of this wagon train, is asked to sing something. Out of this experience, a group is formed, singing old time gospel songs, hence the name, “The Wagon Train Gang.” This was in 1987 and the quartet has been singing ever since, holding to the roots they grew up with. Three of the original members remain and the fourth has been with the group for over 25 years. Presently the group consists of Alto singer, Janette Crawford, Bass singer, Eddie Jones, Tenor singer, Paul Sheets and Lead singer, Jim Grissom. The vocalists are all from Pocahontas. Playing lead guitar is “Big” Steve Williams from Osceola and Bass guitarist, Terry Ward from Walnut Ridge. The group has 6 recordings and has sung all over southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas.
