JAMIE CARRAGHER : PHYSICALLY & MENTALLY WEAK LIVERPOOL ARE GETTING BULLIED The former Anfield defender gave a damning assessment of his former clubs start to the season as they slumped to a 3-1 loss at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon. Jamie Carragher has labelled Liverpool mentally and physically weak after their shock 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday. Liverpool led early on through Rickie Lambert, but Palace were soon level through Dwight Gayle and secured a win in the second half with goals from Joe Ledley and Mile Jedinak. Carragher, who retired prior to the 2013-14 season, said his former side had been bullied by Palace at Selhurst Park. Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports, Carragher said: This is more than just a poor start; theres something wrong. Somethings not right, theyre getting bullied out of games. [At] the end of last season, when they came here, we said [they were] mentally, physically weak - same again. Nothings changed. No matter £120 million [spent on players], [Luis] Suarez has gone...so what? Suarez has gone. [They are] still mentally weak, [there is] no leadership on the pitch. And as a Liverpool fan, which I am - I dont care about being neutral on TV - what Im saying is as a fan when youre watching your own team, the worst thing you can ever be throwing at your own team or think of them is [they are] being bullied or being weak and thats what weve seen today from Liverpool and not for the first time. It has been going on all season and were saying new players, give them time to adjust - Im not a big believer in that. Ive never moved club, and when a foreign player comes in it takes a bit of time [to adapt] but were getting to the stage now where you want to start seeing performances. And Liverpool arent getting beaten by quality, theyre getting bullied, and as I said theyre getting beaten by enthusiasm from Crystal Palace. Liverpool now sit 12th in the Premier League table and face a crucial game against Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday. Courtesy : goal (FDC)
