JAMMU: Strange it may sound but it’s a fact that a police Inspector has been engaged in vilification campaign against his colleague and trying to implicate him in a fake attempt to murder case by making his son to give a false statement to police. Inspector Vishal Singh Jamwal, who was instrumental in the killing of several militants during his posting in SOG Srinagar and is known for his professionalism and dedication, is being made a victim by Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria, whose dubious record as SHO in various police stations was known to all. Inspector Jamwal said Mr Khajuria has compelled his son Pranav Khajuria, who was injured under mysterious circumstances at Railway Road on the intervening night of September 4 and 5, to name him as an accused to pressurize his friend Arjun Veer Rana to withdraw FIR against Pranav. “Inspector Khajuria has hatched a conspiracy. On the day of injuries Pranav had told SHO Trikuta Nagar that he didn’t know who injured him in the melee. Now five to six days after the incident, Pranav has named me. All this was part of well planned conspiracy to malign me and my image, which I has built over the years,” Mr Jamwal said when approached for his comments. He said Inspector Khajuria was trying to malign him so that Arjun Veer Rana was forced to withdraw case against his son. Inspector Jamwal said it was he who had first informed Trikuta Nagar police station about the incident after reaching the spot on being called by Rana. He said Khajuria was using his influence over police and was even witnessing case diaries, which he can’t do as he was father of the accused Pranav. When approached for comments over the entire episode, IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar said it was a clash between two groups. “Police have lodged counter FIRs from both sides. The matter is under investigations,” he added. Police have, meanwhile, appointed SDPO East SS Samyal as the Inquiry Officer in the incident. Narrating the incident, Inspector Jamwal said he reached the spot after getting and emergency call from Arjun Veer Rana that he and his wife were intercepted and beaten-up by the miscreants. He added that Pranav Khajuria has also joined the miscreants after reaching there in TATA Safari when he reached the spot. Inspector Khajuria asked if Pranav didn’t know at the time of incident as to how he was injured and who hit him, how could he now claim that Rana and he had attacked him. “The statement is an afterthought to frame me and malign my clean and credible image and compel Arjun to withdraw the FIR against Pranav,” he said and hoped that the Investigating Officer would examine all pros and cons and realize mischief and machinations of Inspector Khajuria. Inspector Vishal Singh said by compelling his son to give false and baseless statement, Inspector Khajuria has tried to play with the law, which he was supposed to protect as a police officer. He demanded that a case should also be registered against Inspector Khajuria for the mischief being played by him. When contacted for comments, Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria said he has full faith in the investigations being conducted by SDPO East SS Samyal and the facts would come out soon. “Whosoever involved in the incident should be brought to books during the investigations. It is due to hectic efforts of police that the accused have been identified,” he said. He added that since police have registered a case at Trikuta Nagar police station under Section 307, the investigation is in progress.
