JAMMU: With water scarcity becoming a grave cause of concern across the country, 92.7 BIG FM Jammu yesterday organised the Painting Competition at Banyan International School, where in more than 50 students participated and displayed the painting talent on the theme Save Water aptly titled ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’. Paani Bachaoo Campaign is a three-month long initiative will engage listeners across 30 stations of its network and will witness partnerships and associations with local NGOs, governing bodies, and celebrities across the country. With water conservation being the need-of-the-hour, 92.7 BIG FM’s ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’ initiative will create awareness along with galvanising national support for the cause. With hard hitting facts which highlight the gravity of the issue, combined with tips on water conservation which vary from rainwater harvesting to simple tips on saving water, the campaign will shed light on all of this. The initiative was supported by the World Famous Painter of the state Mr. Suman Gupta who was the Judged of the Competition and a special lecture was delivered by Secretary General of ICDRC Mr. Ashutosh Sharma on Saving water and Rainwater Harvesting. The open Painting competition witnessed the great work by young talented students of Banyan International School out of which Raghav of class 9th was adjudged the winner of the competition along with Sonam of class 10th and Nandini of class 5th were declared 1st & 2nd Runner’s up respectively. Vikrant Sharma, Programming Manager – 92.7 BIG FM Jammu designed the save water painting competition. Speaking on the occasion Principal Banyan International School Dr. Rekha Bhushan welcomed this initiative of 92.7 BIG FM and also put light on the efforts of the school in the same direction. The ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’ initiative of 92.7 BIG FM is supported by Communication & Capacity Development Unit and Simula Infra Developers. Syed Ali Jaffery, Station Head – 92.7 BIG FM Jammu said, “Water shortage is a critical issue being faced by many families across the country. With this initiative of ‘Pani Bachao, Life Banao’ we aim to encourage listeners to take the necessary steps for water conservation. Through associations with experts, local NGOs, and governing bodies among others, along with support from our listeners our endeavour is to create awareness regarding the benefits of water saving techniques like rainwater harvesting, etc, thereby reducing the overall negative impact of the lack of water.”
