JANUARY 21, 2015 From the Prayer Closet: How far can God’s love reach? Many of us pray-ers are also “seers” (so to speak), and as we look at your prayer requests and the spectrum of human needs that we pray about daily, we find ourselves asking, “How far Lord—how far can Your love reach? And how far can we reach out?” Believing and praying for miracles takes heart; sharing hope means that somewhere—obviously beyond our comprehension—You, gracious Lord, have created a way and a plan to bring healing to our world. If there is a plan—and we believe there is—and if we and those of us who are praying for you are a part of that plan—and again we believe that—then us praying for you, and you being responsive to God and the working of Holy Spirit are all a part of a divine healing process. Lord give us pray-ers’ hearts to reach out, and give prayer recipients the heart to be receptive. Amen. Scripture: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” (Matthew 4:23, NKJV) Pray-ers Note: God’s pattern is different than man’s pattern for the church and the sharing of the Gospel, as well as, of course, our prayer work. According to Luke’s Gospel, Jesus was continually retreating to the wilderness or places of seclusion to recharge His spiritual “batteries,” to spend time with the Father, and to prepare—yes, prepare—to carry His message of hope and peace into the world. A question that we might ask is this: Was Jesus praying for those whom He had touched, healed, and brought deliverance to while in His “Prayer Closet”? Probably. Nevertheless, for us pray-ers a more important question is this: Was he also praying for those whom He would be encountering as He went forth from His “Prayer Closet”? From what we see in the Gospel narratives, I believe we can again say “yes.” So the real question that we need to ask is: When we get through the prayer list, has our work concluded for the day or only begun?
