JANUARY 28, 2014: Please start today’s post by reading John 2:1-11. Refuge is defined as “place, shelter or protection from danger or distress; something to which one has recourse in difficulty”. (Merriam-Webster Online) **Now hold on to your seat because I’m about to preach and it is NOT about finding refuge in wine** LOL :) This story we just read in John 2 is the first miracle account of Jesus. John 2:11 tells us this: “This was the first miraculous sign that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.” (CEB) The majority of the attendees at the wedding at Cana had no idea what just happened. The servants knew because they literally got the water and watched the master taste it and say, “But you have saved the best wine till now.” John 2:10b (NCV) When Jesus’ mother told the servants to follow his instructions, they did just that and allowed Jesus to work. Jesus told them to “fill the jars with water” and the servants “filled the jars to the top”. The same is true for us today. We have a choice. Jesus desires to be our place of shelter, protection, and recourse in ALL things! When we invite him into our daily walk on this journey…HE WILL FILL US COMPLETELY! He IS our REFUGE! This is the point to take away – we have to get right down honest with Jesus that we NEED Him…and oh my dear friends we so NEED Him! We have to be honest with Him and expose Him in our lives, just like Mary (Jesus’ mother). Tell Him today where you are empty and WATCH HIM FILL YOU with His love! Ask for forgiveness of using other things to bring temporary refuge. He can bring you what you need. PRAISE BE TO GOD! Father God, it is my prayer for each person that reads this today, that you will fill them with your Spirit. Show them you are there…for YOU ARE ALIVE! We love you so much Lord and NEED you all of our days! I ask these things in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit ~ AMEN.
