JB Watched It For You - Growing Up Fisher (NBC Tuesdays, sneak preview tonight after Olympics coverage): The plot: a blind man gets divorced, his son worries that they wont have the same close relationship now that dad has a new place and a guide dog, while mom has gone a bit batshit. Its hard to really go after a show whose spirit seems mostly nice - like much of NBCs comedy slate this year, the show is extremely well intentioned and lacks the bite of The Office or a CBS sitcom. But its just not very funny. Its a more passable Wonder Years knockoff than the abrasively loud Goldbergs (Im pretty sure at one point the show was supposed to take place in the 80s, now its set in the present but narrated as the past by Jason Bateman). J Jonah Jameson himself JK Simmons plays the lead, and seems pretty method in playing blind. He and Bateman deserve a little more to work with (apparently Parker Posey agreed, and left town to be replaced by Jenna Elfman as Mom) than a series of sight gags about...lack of sight followed by a heartwarming conclusion. Its certainly not offensive, but neither was The Michael J Fox show. Just a little boring. PASS.
