JERRY CORDIÑERA AT REY EVANGELISTA ON MARC PINGRIS .. “Parang I started like si Ping,” Codiñera told sportswriters on Sunday. “Rebounder, very good role player si Ping.” Like Pingris, who was the Defensive Player of the Year last season, Codiñera was a member of multiple All-Defensive teams in his prime. According to Codiñera, he had opportunity of working along with Pingris when they were still together with Air 21. “Grabe yung attitude ni Ping. I was able to coach him sa Air 21 noong assistant pa ako. Sina Ranidel (De Ocampo), Arwind (Santos) mga kasama niya noon. At that time, nasabi ko na nga sa sarili ko na gagaling itong mga ito,” added Codinera. Evangelista also picked Pingris as a symbol of hard work and dedication. “Si Ping nakikita ko yung dedication niya even sa practice pa lang,” said Evangelista. “Kaibahan lang siguro mayroon siyang leaping ability. Gifted siya. Pero yung work ethic, parang nakikita ko rin yung sarili ko sa kanya na trabaho lang talaga iniisip.”
