JFDB News Update Premier League 2013/2014 NPL Round 25 # PREVIEW Friday March 14th, 2014 Re: Craig Butler, new director of football at Humble Lion. Craig Butler is new director of football at Humble Lion as head coach Geoffrey Maxwell walks Humble Lion will enter into their match against Rivoli United with the knowledge that Linval Wilson will assume the head coaching duties made vacant by the departure of Geoffrey Maxwell and Craig Butler is the new director of football. Whether or not that will propel the Clarendon team is left to be seen. Currently they are in eighth spot on 28 points with hopes of securing a top four playoff spot of which they are seven points adrift. Humble Lion have not won in their last five games drawing four times and losing once and have fallen just two points above the relegation zone. They are a talented bunch and they should be much higher but such in the competitive nature of the league that a string of poor result can get you into trouble. Rivoli United in 11th spot on 26 points are proving to be a difficult team for Humble Lion beating them 1-0 and drawing the second encounter 3-3. Now playing at home at Effortville at 6:00 pm, Humble Lion are expected to secure their first win since beating Harbour View 1-0 on February 9. Meanwhile leaders Montego Bay United on 42 points play surging Tivoli Gardens in fifth spot on 34 points in a crucial match. Montego Bay are three points clear of the chasing pack and another win will bring them much closer to securing a playoff spot. Tivoli Gardens, following their controversial 2-0 win over Arnett Gardens, are just eight points behind the leader and with approximately nine matches remaining, are in the thick of things for one of four playoff spots and will be motivated by that fact. It should be a close affair between the two teams at the Edward Seaga Stadium starting at 3:30 pm. Both teams share 1-0 victories in their two meetings this season. Second-placed Harbour View on 39 points will get a chance to put some light between themselves and the inactive Waterhouse in third spot when they host seventh-placed Cavalier on 30 points. Harbour View have not won in their last seven games but they are a quality team and should get out of that slumber anytime now and Cavalier could be the team that will feel the heat. But the black and white standard bearers from Stadium East are no pushovers and with an eye on a top four spot, Cavalier will make it a most difficult evening for Harbour View in their game at the Compound starting at 6:30 pm. In what is a serious relegation clash, August Town on 24 points in 12th spot travel to 10th-placed Portmore United on 26 points in a game that could go a far in way in both teams’ survival in the premier league. It’s unusual to see Portmore United in such a battle but such is their poor form this season that after 24 games, they have just won six times and lost 10 times. August Town are unbeaten in their last eight games but have won just once and if they can get a victory, they could be out of the relegation zone as only two points separate the bottom four teams. Another team in relegation zone is Boys’ Town in ninth spot with 26 points and they host sixth-placed Sporting Central Academy on 30 points and looking ahead toward the playoffs. Only five points separate them from their dreams right now and the Clarendon outfit will not want to slip up, especially against a Boys’ Town team not playing very well. On Monday, third-placed Waterhouse on 39 points host Arnett gardens in fourth spot on 35 points in what is expected to be an exciting game starting at 8:30 pm Web Site – jfdb.info Email - [email protected] Media Page - jfdb.info/main/media.asp?mn=1 Facebook Group - Jamaica Football Database Facebook user - Jfdb Jamaica Twitter - footballdataJA Skype – jfdb.info or [email protected] or Jamaica Football Database Personal BBM Pin~ 7B774673 Chat group direct on Blackberry BBM Pin ~ 2AB2F0F3
