JJs journey: Within two weeks a new doctor took over and was an advocate for JJ. She convinced the other doctors that JJ needed his heart surgery. They finally agreed! I knew then that JJ was going to be okay. God sends positive people in our lives to give us hope, we just have to trust in him. At the end of that week JJ was moved back to the CICU and week from there he was having his heart surgery after waiting a long 2 months. Jj received his open heart surgery on February 19, 2014. He was in the operating room for 5 hours. It was the longest 5 hours of my life but I knew God was iin that room with him guiding the doctors hands. When jj came back from surgery his chest was still open. It looked so painful. he was swollen in his face. I couldnt stand looking at him that way. I felt so guilty for putting him through all that pain for my selfish reasons. But then he looked up at me & it was like he was telling me everything was okay. After a couple of weeks of recovering they weened him from the ventilator and I finally got to see most of my babys face. But being off the ventilator only last almost 2 weeks & he was put back on and tried 3 more times but kept failing so the doctors finally decided to try a tracheostomy (permanent airway in his neck). I was not for the tracheostomy but I would do whatever it takes for him to come home. After I agreed to it the doctors took forever to schedule the surgery. I felt like they didnt want to do it. I even had some nurses tell me its a lot of work., my life would be over if I went through with it. I actually believed them. He had that surgery April 7, 2014 along with a G-tube (a feeding tube in his stomach). He was doing good with the trach and g-tube. We had to get him to the TICU (Technology Intensive Care Unit). They told me that he probably would never leave the CICU because whenever he would have a bowel movement he would clamp down and turn blue and require more oxygen or have to be bagged to bring his Sats back up. The doctor called these episodes death spells. God also puts negative people in your life to push you to keep going & thats what I did. I never listened to the negative I only listened to God.
