JK Bank recruits 6 new playersFootball selection trials. Srinagar, Aug 27: Continuing with its tradition of recruiting promising footballers, the J&K Bank on Wednesday recruited six new players, following the 3-day selection trails held that concluded at Kashmir University grounds here. Officials said that around 50 players, who have represented the state in National level competitions, turned up for the trials that were open for players from all over the state. “On August 25, the selection committee comprising JK Bank Sports Board Secretary Showkat Ahmad Khanyari, Coach Manzoor Ahmad and Member Sports Board Rajesh Chandra shortlisted 20 out of 50 players. On the second day of the trials the list was scaled down to 12 while as on the last day today, six players were finalized for recruitment”, said an official adding that the shortlisted players will represent the bank team in the upcoming events. “Our aim was to give maximum chances to all those who had turned up for the trials. In order to select the best players we had to extend the process by one day which was originally scheduled for 2 days only,” said Khanyari. “I am delighted to see how much talent we have got as almost all the players who had turned up for selections exhibited high quality skills. Even those players who are already in our academy had to go through trail process in order to get selected,” he said. In senior category, Azhar Ali, Shahid Mushtaq and Taufeeq Ahmad were recruited while as in junior category Rohit Kalsotra, M Uneeb and Faisal Thakur were recruited. All the players will be playing for JK Bank-A team in the ongoing league. “JK Bank is major source of employment for the footballers. Since the formation of the football team 160 players have been recruited, among whom many are holding managerial positions,” Khanyari said. “It is in line with that tradition we have recruited these six players. They have been recruited on one year consolidated basis following which their services will be regularised,” he further said. He said that the Bank strives for development of the sport in the state and two football academies are already being run by the organization in Jammu and Kashmir provinces. “Two academies, one each in Jammu and Kashmir provinces, are running for last three years. In Kashmir 30 players are getting training while as in Jammu 22 players are being trained. Apart from that we have two teams playing in football league. The academies are run on transition basis with continuous addition of new talent,” the Sports Board Secretary said.
