JK Media Guild formed; to focus on bringing about unity among media fraternity In an extra ordinary meeting of a large number of working journalists and editors representing different publications, news gathering agencies and private television channels (cable networks) under the chairmanship of senior Journalist Bilal Bazaz, on 25th June 2013 it was unanimously felt that there is a need to unite the fraternity under a common roof to deal with the enormous difficulties the media men are facing while performing their professional duties. The editors, working journalists, video and photo journalists expressed their concern over the growing incidents of high handedness of security agencies and administrative officials. During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to form an association of media professionals operating in the state representing different media organizations in different capacities. After deliberating on a few suggestions, consensus arrived at “J K MEDIA GUILD”. Immediately an adhoc body was put in place to lead the organization and following office bearers were appointed for a period of one year. 1 Mir Aijaz President Editor, Kashmir Canvas 2 Bilal Bazaz Vice President Editor, CNI & Bureau chief, Qaumi Salamati 3 Imtiyaz Ahmad Bazaz General Secretary Editor, Mountain Valley Kashmir 4 Bashir Ahmad Beig Spokesman Daily Uqaab 5 Zahoor Gulzar Convener Editor, Global Kashmir After appointing the adhoc team of office bearers, it was impressed upon them to appoint sub-committees for drafting Constitution, manifesto and the by-laws of this newly formed media organization. The adhoc body has also been asked to ensure the transparent elections for electing the team of office bearers within the stipulated time.
