JK to go to polls in five phases from Nov 25 The Election Commission of India has announced the election schedule today stating that the Jammu and Kashmir state will go to polls in five phases from November 25. Jarkhand will also go to polls alongside JK. Counting will take place on December 23. Addressing a news conference in Delhi Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath said that the first phase will take place on November 25, second phase on December 2, third phase on December 9, fourth phase on December 14 and fifth and last phase on December 20. He said that the counting for both states will take place on December 23. “Various factors, post flood situation in respect of Jammu and Kashmir , festivals and law and order situation taken into consideration before taking the decision” he said.
