JKLF flays Rashid for involving Guru, Maqbool’s name Srinagar, May 05 | The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Monday flayed a lawmaker over invoking names of party founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat during an election rally in Handwara. Castigating Awami Itehad Party chief Abdul Rashid, who shouted slogans in favour of parliament attack convict Muhammad Afzal Guru and Bhat in a poll rally, the JKLF said these are ‘election stunts’ by pro-India politicians to ‘lure voters’. Earlier today, the Member of Legislative Assembly, Rashid in a poll rally in north Kashmir’s Handwara shouted slogans in favor of JKLF founder Bhat and parliament attack convict Guru. Both of them were executed and buried in New Delhi’s Tihar prison in 1984 and 2013 respectively. Talking to GNS, senior JKLF leader, Noor Muhamad Kalwal, said: “These are the tactics to gain votes in elections by pro-India politicians. They are shouting slogans in favour of Maqbool and Guru only to attract people in their rallies. Otherwise, nobody will turn up in their rallies.” Kalwal, who was speaking to GNS on the behalf of imprisoned JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, added: “If any pro-freedom leader had shouted slogans in favor of Guru and Maqbool like Rashid shouted, police would have handcuffed and detained him.” (GNS)
