JKPC welcomes resumption of LoC bus service. Srinagar, Feb 1: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference today welcomed the resumption of bus services between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad but expressed regret over the stand-off on trade across LoC. General Secretary, PC, Rasheed Mehmood in a statement issued here said the trade ties across the LoC must be resumed at the earliest and it is in no way justified to halt the trade because of an unfortunate incident. He said that rather than pursuing the matter legally, the abrupt and one-sided halting of the service cannot be the way forward. “Kashmiri’s have not been taken into confidence. The economic activity across the LOC involves the Kashmiris on both sides and it is not just a commercial activity but a symbol of unity and integrated identity of the Kashmiris kept divided by the powers that be.” He said that already having many loopholes and being ridden by complexities creating pitfalls for the Kashmiri traders, the process is nevertheless a means of reviving the socio-economic ties of the divided people and maintaining a psychological association. “It has also widely been acclaimed as a constructive measure of Conflict Transformation a main mechanism towards efforts of peace building. Rather than expanding the scope of such activities across the LoC the scuttling of existing ones cannot be accepted.”
