JMIAA Riyadh Cricket Team Wins !!!Congratulations!!! !!!Congratulations!!! !!!Congratulations!!! Our Cricket Team has won the match for 2nd runner up position of the Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) organized Saturday League of 2014. The match was played at RCL ground 2. The opponents were RAC. JMIAA team was full of confidence today and wanted to repeat its earlier performance to win by a big margin. And yes, we did it in complete style. The toss was won by RAC. Since we had amassed a total of 242 in our last outing when we batted first against them, so they chose to bat first only to realize later how wrong their decision was as the match was won by JMIAA by 10 wickets in only the 14th over. RAC started their batting cautiously by scoring 6 an over but they lost some early wickets as a result of good bowling by Arshad, Zabi and Javed and good fielding. If it was not their coach Arsalan they would have scored much less. He scored a brisk 50 but was caught behind off leg break Mushtaq. At one point, RAC were cruising at 110 in 10 overs and a big score was on the cards. However, JMIAA bowler Mushtaq engulfed the RAC batsmen in his spin web. He took 4 wickets in all and demolished the backbone of the RAC. JMIAA fielding was also upto the mark as we didnt drop a single catch and run out 3 batsman. As a result, RAC could only muster a total of 163 runs and were bowled out in 17 overs. Saif took the first catch of the match at mid off while Zabi took another good catch at long on. Jaber was energetic as usual and effected two run outs and a catch. In reply the best pair of the tournament Ejaz and Mushtaq opened the innings once again and started playing freely from the first ball. The pair scored at brisk rate and played strokes all around the ground. RAC bowlers and fielders toiled under the scorching sun but could not get a single wicket. It was again a record for the tournament that JMIAA won by 10 wickets. Mushtaq made 86 runs that included 12 glorious boundaries. On the other hand, Ejaz made 64 runs that included 8 hits to the boundary. Built on these two openers unbeaten stand, JMIAA cruised to victory with all 10 wickets in hand and 36 balls to spare. As the day had finals for 1st and 2nd positions as well, the prize distribution ceremony was held at about 4:15 pm. The occasion was graced by some special guests and sponsors. While distributing the prizes and trophies, RCL COO Mr Asif Sheikh praised JMIAA team and made special remarks that the team has created ripples in the tournament and made a lasting impact by playing high level cricket against the best teams of the league. For a record JMIAA bagged 5 trophies (equalling the number with the tournament Winner GamePro). Its an honourable achievement for a new team. From JMIAA, Mushtaq was adjudged Man of the Match for his 86 N.O. and 4 for 20. He also received a trophy for his hundred in the tournament. The dependable and highest run scorer of the tournament Ejaz Shakeb was awarded one trophy for scoring a hundred and another trophy for being the best batsman of the tournament as he scored 302 runs and was unbeaten twice. In the end, the 2nd runner up trophy was handed over to JMIAA team that was received by Nisar captaining the team in the absence of Moin. For a change today the players from KSU reached the grounds themselves on time. Thanks to Javed Siddiqui. Towards the end, Aneesurrehman from Al Kharj came to see the team while on his way to the city. He brought the much needed plenty of cold water bottles as we had run out of all water and juices while celebrating our big win. It was an all round performance by JMIAA that has established itself as a formidable team. The winning team: Mushtaq, Ejaz, Javed, Jaber, Saif, Mustafa, Aftab, Zabiullah, Tauqeer, Arshad, Razwi, Nisar. Moin needs special mention who was available all the time with the team through whatsApp :) Once again Many Congratulations to all the players of JMIAA team who have either played matches or supported the team and all the Jamiaites.
