JMW Racing took their Zircotec equipped Ferrari 458 to 7th in their GT class at this years Le Mans 24hr race. The event once again had thrills and spills all the way through the field from the front of the grid to the back. The factory Toyota and Audi LP1 Hybrid cars led at the start with the Toyota having set pole. Then the rain came in fits and starts causing havoc as cars spun out only to come back into the race as soon as the gravel was emptied out by the hard working pit crews. The factory Porsche team back after more than a decade away also entered Hybrid LP1s but encountered problems early on lacking the pace of the Toyotas and Audios. After the race was in full flow that changed though and the Porsches started to build their pace and start to make an impact with their all new cars. As the weather played its games the.number 20 Porsche eventually took the lead in the race. At around the 12 hour mark the lead Audi had lost time in the pits with a fault that ceded the lead back to the Toyota. Meanwhile the JMW Ferrari was battling it out further down the field with the GT am cars including those of World Cup winning French goalkeeper Fabian Bathez and US actor Patrick Dempsey and encountering dramas of their own. As the race headed towards the early hours of the morning the leading Toyota was forced to retire leaving the number 1 Audi to retake the lead only for the car to require its own lengthy visit to the pits allowing the Porsche number 20 to take lead once again. It did not last long however and the Porsche was also forced into the pits as dawn was approaching. the pit crew battled valiantly but only just succeeded in getting the car out for the last two laps of the circuit and showing for a finish.
