JOB ADVERTISEMENT Project Office Manager – Laisamis Organisation Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg are non-governmental aid agencies and members of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas works worldwide and adheres to international humanitarian principles (NGO code of conduct). Caritas encourages people to take charge of their own fate and does this by promoting local initiatives that sustainably improve the living conditions of the socially disadvantaged, advocating the conservation of natural resources, supporting civil conflict resolution and peace building, cooperating with local partners and strengthening their own commitments. Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg act in the frame of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a consortium in the Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa with a focus on education, strengthening of civil society, food security and water, hygiene and sanitation. We operate a joint Liaison Office in Nairobi, have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa). During the 2011 Horn of Africa Crisis, Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg (Caritas) responded in Kenya with emergency projects Marsabit, Wajir, Turkana, Dadaab, Kitui and Ngong. The interventions focussed on WASH and Food Security to mitigate the impacts of drought on pastoralist communities. For one of its follow-up WASH project in Marsabit, Kenya, Caritas is seeking to recruit a competent Administrator / Financial Officer for its field office in Laisamis with a background in administration and finance and experience in office management. Position Project Office Manager – Laisamis Reporting to Humanitarian Delegate Duration 18 months Location Marsabit County, Marsabit South District, Laisamis project office with frequent travel to project sites in same district and occasional travel to Nairobi Key tasks & responsibilities Manage the project office in Laisamis with about six staff independently; Support project operation in regards to all administrative and financial aspects; Be responsible for all administrative and financial tasks at the field office; Deliver comprehensive monthly reports to Nairobi office; Act as security focal point of project office; and Representation of Caritas Switzerland at the field level in relation to all stakeholders Essential requirements & qualifications Higher national diploma in Business Administration (BA), a degree in BA would be an added advantage; and Successful completion of CPA part 2; and At least two years proven experience of managing a project office independently and successfully; Dynamic personality; Accurate and responsible attitude and way of working; Complete accountability; and Excellent social skills including communication, management and leadership Caritas Switzerland is an equal opportunity employer and qualified women candidates are encouraged to apply.
