JOB ALERT: Second Cooks (Sodexo at The University of Pittsburgh) Sodexo at The University of Pittsburgh is seeking full and part time second cooks. Job Description: Smiling and interacting with customers to deliver exceptional customer service while working cooperatively with coworkers to achieve customer service goals. Must have the ability to operate the fryer and grills in order to produce all food items. Additionally, must be able to accurately make sandwiches to order within the Sodexo proportioning guidelines while engaging in conversation with customers. Individual must be able to give each customer 100% of your attention without distraction. This position will include standing in place for long periods of time. Setting up and breaking down cold wells with appropriate food items in advance for meal period with station readiness a minimum of 10 minutes before meal period. Maintain salad bar with accompaniments. Produces pre-made sandwiches and LTOs in anticipation of customer demand (often using historical data to predict production level). Having a strong sense of urgency and understanding speed of service. During periods of high demand you must be able to work at a faster pace while still maintaining great customer service, product quality and safety standards. Maintain appropriate stock and prep levels to ensure efficient operation of the station. Rotates stock using 1st IN, 1st OUT method to maintain product freshness and eliminate spoilage. Accurately take, record, and maintain temperature logs at intervals specified by Management. During slow periods clean and sanitize work stations including wiping down counters, cleaning glass sneeze guards, taking out trash when full, sweeping floors in front of and behind station, wipe up spills and removes clutter. Maintains clean cooking equipment, hood/vents, and use chemicals that are dispensed properly and used for their intended purposes. Individual will also take on cleaning projects as directed by Management. Qualifications and requirements : High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience. Must be able to effectively communicate and receive information in a manner easily understood by fellow employees. All team members will be required to maintain the sanitation and cleanliness of the entire facility. It will take all members of our team to achieve this goal. This will include sweeping/mopping spills, taking care of immediate safety and sanitation hazards/issues. Will be required to perform specific cleaning assignments that keep our facility safe and sanitary in accordance with the University, Sodexo, HACCP and Health Department standards. Must follow all Sodexo, Client, Contractual, and regulatory rules and procedures. Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity, and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lift supplies and equipment weighing 50 lbs or more. Wears protective clothing required by the work environment or governmental regulations.The employee is expected to perform other duties as assigned by members of management and/or supervisory staff when needed.
