JOB ALERT: We are seeking a Mid-Level Hardware Engineer for an opportunity in Columbia, MD. Responsibilities include: design and develop analog & digital hardware; switching power supply design, implementing analog & digital designs using schematic capture software tool (Orcad) which include generating net lists, parts lists and printed circuit board layout; active participant in the design layout phase including component placement and trace routing and be able to write guidelines for the board layout; extensive hands on experience in the lab for debugging and testing all parts of analog & digital design; work closely with CAD designer, board fab/assembly vendors; be able to guide the Mechanical design of enclosure; be able to create clear and concise documentation to support all facets of the design, including design requirements, detailed design & verification test plans/reports; familiar with Compliance testing standards (MIL, SAE, FCC, EN); support production. Evaluate and source alternate components. Experience: digital board development using CPLD, clocks, switches, Xilinx/Altera CPLD tools, implementing serial communications interfaces (such as CAN, USB, I2C, SPI, RS232 & RS485), implementing audio amplifier circuit and analog board design, implementing switching power supply design of DC/DC converters, schematic capture software ORCAD, awareness of signal integrity and EMI/EMC issues, and experience with thermal design and heat sinks, using scope, logic analyzer.
