***JOB ANNOUNCEMENT*** PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER Mt. Hood Comm. College The Public Safety Department at Mt. Hood Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Public Safety Officer. Under the direction of the Manager -- Public Safety performs general public safety duties to protect life and property throughout the college. Utilizing established procedures, responds and takes appropriate action in the event of disturbances, crimes, fires or medical emergencies. Conducts foot, bicycle and vehicle patrols on the college property to enforce state, federal and local laws, college policy and regulations related to Public Safety. The shift for this position is Saturday and Sunday, 7am-3pm; Mon-Tue-Wed 3pm-11pm. Initial salary placement will be between $3,252 and $3,679, plus a 3% shift differential, based on education and experience. The minimum qualifications for this position are:High school diploma or GED; two years (or more) of college level coursework in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science or related field Years of experience requirements mean years of full-time work. At the Colleges discretion, one year of part-time work may equate to one-half year of full-time work, depending upon number of hours worked. Experience in public safety such as campus public safety, military police, law enforcement or active police reserve may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college coursework requirement. Must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire:Department of Public Safety Standards Training (DPSST) unarmed professional certificationCPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certificationFirst Aid certificationAED (Automated External Defibrillator) certificationMust have a valid driver license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Oregon, possess an acceptable driving record and the ability to be insured by the college insurance carrier and be at least 19 years old in order to operate college vehicles.
