JOB DESCRIPTION: Financial Capability Coordinator REPORTS TO: Director of Counseling & Director of Financial Education PRIMARY FUNCTION OF JOB: Provide financial counseling, teach money management workshops, and increase awareness of services in the South Carolina Lowcountry. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide confidential housing and credit counseling over the telephone or in-person. • Help clients address issues of debt, credit, budgeting, home buying, bankruptcy, and foreclosure through individual counseling sessions. • Foster clients’ money management skills through analysis of income, expenses, debt, and options. • Develop action plans for clients to follow and make community resources referrals to improve clients’ financial success. • Provide and document follow-up counseling and ongoing support to clients. • Teach classes on homeownership, credit, spending plans, savings, debt, and identity protection. • Market financial education classes and conduct outreach to employers, other non-profits, religious organizations, the military, social service agencies, and schools. • Maintain and develop new community partners in the South Carolina Lowcountry. • Track activities, evaluate outcomes, and write reports. • Order supplies and provide facility reports for Beaufort office. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: • Pass credit, housing, and education certification tests within one year of start date. • Should be self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently. • Must be unbiased, non-judgmental, and able to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds. • Must have excellent presentation skills. • Must be computer savvy. • Need reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. • Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends. • Bi-lingual not required but preferred.
