JOB: Job Announcement UCLA Labor Center Dream Resource Center Project Director The UCLA Labor Center’s Dream Resource Center (DRC) Project Director will direct the work of the DRC project, including project planning, implementation, development, research, promotion, and outreach. The Project Director will supervise DRC staff and interns, build the team, and represent the project on the Labor Center Leadership Team. The Project Director will also oversee the project budget, research grant opportunities, write grant proposals and reports, and promote the program nationwide with the media, elected officials, and the public. Job Duties Manage, plan, implement, and develop the Dream Resource Center (DRC) project, including public programming and the research agenda. Manage and build the DRC team, and supervise DRC staff and interns. Participate on the Labor Center Leadership Team to coordinate between projects and overall. Manage, track, and oversee grant deliverables, and insure that deliverables are met. Research and conceive DRC grant projects; write grant applications and grant reports. Oversee the project budget and scale the work of the DRC within budget parameters. Direct and facilitate program planning teams made up of Project Directors, Program Reps, administrative staff, interns, community leaders, organizers, and students. Conceive and oversee DRC workshops, conferences, and trainings. Conceive and manage program promotion, including traditional media, web site development, and new media. Conceive and direct outreach to undocumented students and allies throughout the country. Manage and oversee project research related to undocumented youth and organizations that support them. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven management expertise to oversee complex projects, track project activities, and see activities through to completion. Proven expertise at supervising a project team, building team cohesiveness, and maximizing staff skills and abilities. Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, community members, workers, and outside organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative team working relationships with supervisees, other staff, the university, and the community. Strong research and writing skills and experience. Public speaking skills and experience Experience and skill working with the media Knowledge of and experience with undocumented immigrant youth issues. Knowledge of and experience with participatory education techniques. Fluent bilingual English/Spanish skills, including oral interpretation and written translation.
