Leading IT companies have partnered with the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the White House to provide scholarships for Training and IT Certifications for transitioning military, Reserve and National Guard personnel. Participants can log onto usitpipeline following instructions in "201305 IT Pilot Program overview and sign up processv2" to request consideration for one of 125 scholarships. Once a participant registers on the IT Pipeline website, they will be contacted by Global Knowledge for evaluation and validation (see message on slide 13 of "201305 IT Pilot Program overview and sign up processv2") the seeker will receive verification message. They will then be contacted the next business day. Industry leaders who have committed support to this initiative include Cisco, CompTIA, Futures Inc, Global Knowledge, GogoTraining, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft Corporation, NetApp, and SANS/GIAC. The Pilot will focus on 12 high-demand, high-growth IT sector occupations generating over 1.8 million job opportunities between now and 2020 with an average salary of $81,000 per year. The Pilot leverages US IT Pipeline, a "Best-of-Breed" technology, and subject matter expertise to provide a single portal for all transitioning military, Reserve, National Guard, veterans, and their families, which will serve as the trusted and reliable resource for making informed IT career decisions. Prioritized Target Audience within the National Guard - Airmen & Soldiers who have an IT MOS but are not currently working. - Airmen & Soldiers who have an IT MOS who are currently under employed. - Airmen & Soldiers who have other than an IT MOS, are not currently working and wish to train, certify and gain employment in the IT sector. Once a participant is enrolled and accepted into the program, a training advisor will assist in training needs analysis and enroll the participants in the proper training course. The goal of the Pilot is to demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of a unique approach in assisting credentialing of unemployed Service members with transition from military skills by: - Assessing their career interests - Mapping their Military Occupation Code to civilian careers - Identifying needed gap training and providing that training on a limited basis - Providing opportunities for acquiring IT certifications - Locating employment opportunities based on knowledge, skills and abilities - Applying, interviewing and becoming employed in the civilian IT sector The projected close date for applications is 1 July 13.
