JOB OPPORTUNITY: DIRECTOR OF LARGE SCALE PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT (PROVIDENCE, RI) Developing large spatial glass sculptural projects using the filet-de-verre technique for art galleries, art consultants, interior designers and public arts commissions; scheduling and preparing for initial meetings with potential clients; conferring with potential clients to determine objectives, budgets, styles, scheduling guidelines, and other pertinent information relating to large spatial glass sculptural projects; conceptualizing and formulating design ideas; outlining proposals including size, configuration, color palette and presentation approaches; creating projected budgets for projects and coordinating budgetary guidelines for presentation to clients; managing accounts and projects and organizing portfolios for each project; working within budget and scheduling requirements and guidelines; creating original design drawings and working models of project ideas for presentation to clients; presenting final layouts to clients for approval; directing and planning the fabrication process for commissioned projects, reviewing and approving necessary materials for such projects, and directing glass and sculptural artists in fabricating large spatial glass sculptures using the filet-de-verre technique; assisting in kiln forming of large glass sculptures; and traveling occasionally to present and install projects and to attend exhibitions and conferences in the United States. Must have Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in sculpture, glass or a related field plus 2 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered OR a Master of Fine Arts Degree in sculpture, glass or a related field. Must also have: knowledge of art commission proposal process and principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling art; knowledge of large scale sculptural and architectural projects from conception to fabrication; knowledge of sculpture and glassmaking using the filet-de-verre technique; and knowledge of fusing, slumping and kiln forming.
