JOB OPPORTUNITY WITH CARE INTERNATIONAL UGANDA. CARE International in Uganda (CARE) works with others to make a sustainable improvement in the lives of the very poor. Our program implementation is focused on supporting communities in fulfillment of their economic rights and achievement of sustainable livelihoods, conflict resolution and peace building, natural resource management and good governance. CARE programming is shifting from project (short term) to programme (long term) approach. The Country Office completed the design of the Northern Uganda Women Empowerment Programme (NUWEP) both multi-years (10-15years) programmes. The programme impact population are women and girls of reproductive age affected by conflict in Northern Uganda. CARE Uganda seeks motivated and qualified professionals to fill the positions of; - Component Specialist -Livelihood Extension (1 position), Component Specialist-Youth &Education (1 position), Drivers (1 position to be based in Gulu and 1 in Kampala), and Accounts Officer (1 position) Component Specialist - Livelihood Extension (CSLE) to be based in Lira Job Summary Reporting to the Sub Programme Manager AgriSkills for You (AS4Y), he/she will be the technical specialist of the component and contribute to component planning i.e. periodic review/analysis of the component for relevance and adaptation to context, initiating innovations, contribute to the development and opertaionalisation of program tools, strategies, models and plans to enable the program realise change among its impact group. The CSLE will offer direct and general support to partners in the areas of institutional strengthening/ capacity building, planning, reporting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program strategies and activities. The CSLE will contribute to resource mobilisation and ensure that financial resources are well utilised to meet the organisation and donor demands. Where applicable the Program Component Specialist will supervise staff and inspire them to perform to their best ability and develop them to do so. Core Roles and Responsibilities ● Take lead in strengthening the capacity of implementing partners, more specifically empowering of women and youth for improved and sustained economic livelihood in Northern Uganda. ● Lead the Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of AS4Y Programme in collaboration with partners to achieve program objectives ● Manage relationships and represent CARE with partners and other stakeholders in pursuit of the program objectives. Job and Person Specifications (Requirements) ● At least a minimum of a Masters degree Qualification’ in Agriculture related training or its equivalent is a must ● Five year program management experience in the technical area of economic empowerment programming or related field. ● Proven leadership and strategic planning capacities. ● Strong skills and experience in M&E ●Advocacy and report writing skills ●Participatory planning techniques and Human Resource Management ● Computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets). ● Ability to drive especially a 4X4 Vehicle on and off road is an added advantage. ● Skills in team work, facilitation and training plus experience in working in Northern Uganda is an added advantage 2. Drivers (2 positions) FOREST (Kampala), & AS4Y (Gulu) Job Summary Reporting to the Administration Officer, the driver will perform tasks related to driving CARE Vehicles entrusted to them in a safe and economical manner in line with the CARE Policy and the Uganda traffic laws and regulations, perform minor mechanical tasks and support office administrative work as may be required Core roles and responsibilities ● Ensure transportation of CARE Staff, partners and materials from office to destinations in a secure and safe manner ● Ensure that the vehicle assigned to is maintained in a good working mechanical condition ● Maintain the Vehicle Log book records and submit to the Supervisor monthly ● Collection and deliveries of mails, equipments and parcels ●Perform minor repairs and recommend major repairs to the garage. Job and Person Specifications (Requirements) ● O level & Mechanical Certificate ● At least 3 years driving and mechanical experience ●Valid Class A, B, CM Certificates/Licences. Possession of a DL class will be an added advantage ● Good understanding of the geographical area of assignment where h/she will be placed in ● Experience in working in a busy environment with lots of experience in long distance Movements Good communication & interpersonal skills, smart and fluent in English .(Women are encouraged to apply) 4. Accounts Officer - (Kampala) Job Summary Reporting to the Accounts Coordinator, he/she has the primary responsibility to perform among other things data entry into the Accounts Receivable, AP recording of payments, Cash Management and banking module of People soft, Organising, transmitting and filing CO monthly financial information inclusive of vouchers, bank information, financial correspondence etc. The position also involves ensuring orderliness within the finance department. S/he deals with all cash receipts and payments Core roles and responsibilities ● Data Entry in the Cash Management and Accounts Receivable modules of People Soft ● Cheque preparation /CITI direct payment and disbursements in a proper and timely manner ● Proper and timely recording of Receipts and timely banking ● Filing all financial documents, records and communications on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
