JOB OPPORTUNITY at WYCE! Station Manager WYCE-FM 88.1 The Grand Rapids Community Media Center (CMC) is seeking an energetic and innovative individual to serve as Station Manager for WYCE-FM, a 10,000 watt community radio station serving West Michigan. WYCE is a listener supported, volunteer programmed, independent radio station offering an eclectic music format. WYCE is part of the CMC, a nonprofit media organization which includes public-access television station GRTV, Wealthy Theatre, and The Rapidian, an on-line hyperlocal news source. The successful candidate will possess a passion for volunteer intensive community radio, an ability to initiate innovative collaborations, and the business skills needed to maintain fiscal and legal stability. Responsibilities: • Oversee all station operations, including financial, legal, and technical • Work with staff and volunteers to maintain and grow community visibility and support through programming, special events, and promotional activities • Serve as the public face of WYCE, on-air, on-camera, and as the emcee for public events • Establish and oversee financial budget and accounting for radio station activities • Manage small staff and maximize effective use of volunteers and interns • Oversee on-air, web and print promotion of station • Develop and implement strategies for integrating new technology and media applications into radio station services • Shape station programming • Design and manage training tools and empowerment activities for volunteer programmers • Design and implement fund development strategies (on-air fund drives, underwriting, major gifts, project grants) • Engage the station in collaborative activities with other CMC departments, Grand Rapids community organizations and the local music community • Direct and monitor technical operations, including acquisition and maintenance of equipment • Insure legal compliance in all station matters, including FCC regulations, copyright and licensing issues • Active participation on the overall CMC management team This is a fulltime position.
