JOB POSTING FIRST NATIONAL BANK - BASTROP AVP/ACCOUNTING OFFICER Headquarters Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, or equivalent combination of course work and work experience; at least five years of related progressive experience in bank accounting operations; current knowledge of banking regulations, policies and procedures, particularly as they pertain to bank regulatory reporting, taxation, accounting, and internal controls. Preferred Qualifications: Current CPA license or in the process of obtaining a CPA license. Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Ability to maintain objectivity and independence. • Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and technically apply written policies, procedures and regulations. • Ability to diplomatically, yet effectively, communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of Bank staff, directors, and regulators. • Ability to take initiative and maintain flexibility. • Ability to use Bank equipment, computer systems, and information. Essential Functions: • Prepare financial data needed for the quarterly federal call reports and other regulatory reports for Bastrop Bancshares, Inc. • Insure both the accuracy and timeliness of updates to the Bank’s investment portfolio. • Serve as member of the Bank’s Asset and Liability Committee to develop strategies to monitor interest rate risk. • Monitor government deposits and pledging requirements; monitor current Bank FDIC insurance and work with agents to ensure adequate coverage. • Review the daily general ledger and income statements as well as the monthly reconciliation of various Bank accounts to verify the accuracy of each. • Review and approve weekly Accounts Payable. • Research and respond to inquiries from examiners as well as internal and external auditors. • Prepare budgets, budget comparisons, and monthly performance reports for the Board of Directors. • Maintain awareness of local and national economic, financial, and political events that may have either direct or indirect impact on the Bank. • Ensure business functions are conducted in a professional and ethical manner while compliant with regulations and internal controls. • Represent the Bank to customers, government agencies, and the general public in ways that promote the integrity and validity of Bank objectives. • Maintain good knowledge of all Bank services so as to respond to customer comments and inquiries and develop cross-sell opportunities, making proper referrals when appropriate. Marginal Functions: • Serve as a backup to both the Accounts Payable and Wire Transfer functions as needed. • Assist in the coordination and conduct of activities and special projects of the financial/operational functions of the Bank.
