JOB POSTING Jewish Vocational Service / Partnerships for Careers and Learning Position: Employment Specialist Position Class: Professional Reports to: Director of Career Moves Services Salary Grade: 3 Supervises: N/A FLSA: Exempt We are seeking a talented employment specialist for a new and exciting pilot project developed by Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Metrowest and Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) and funded by Combined Jewish Philanthropies. This position is part-time (21 hours per week) and is located at JFS/MW in Framingham. Summary: The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality job search coaching and job placement assistance (including aggressive marketing and outreach to employers, job development, placement, and follow-up) to professional-level job seekers in the Metro West area. This individual must provide service to both the job seeker and employer. Essential Job Functions: * In conjunction with JFS staff, screens, interviews and accepts candidates into the “Ready for Success” program based on a set of criteria. * Provides a range of employment coaching services. * Actively develops new employer relationships. Manages positive and productive employer relationships. * Conducts on-going job development and job referral activities by cold calling, attending job fairs, technology searches (LinkedIn, company sites, etc.), contacts from JFS/MW via board of directors, colleagues at Career Moves at JVS , CJP affinities teams, and all-JVS employment staff. * Refers appropriate clients for adjunct services including financial and legal consultation. * Maintains clear, accurate, up-to-date information in Agency database regarding client and employer activity. * Prepares and submits required reports for Director and funders on a timely basis. * Works collaboratively with JFS staff as well as JVS Boston staff. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Non-Essential Functions: * Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and team-based projects. * Actively participates in interagency planning to assure the participant’s needs are being effectively addressed. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Experience: * A minimum of 3 years of related experience; staffing experience highly desired * Knowledge of the Metrowest Jewish community a definite plus * Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills * Knowledge of job development strategies * Experience working and partnering with employers required * Highly computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet searches * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team * Presentation and facilitation skills required Education Required: BA/BS in Human Services or related field; staffing/recruitment experience preferred Communication/Reasoning Demands: 1. The ability to coordinate, analyze, organize, compile, compose, and compute data and information. 2. The ability to organize, negotiate, guide and instruct, speak and give instructions to individuals. Travel to Boston a minimum of once per month required. Occasional evening hours required.
