JOB Posting Position: Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper Deadline for applications: January 17th, 2015, midnight As the result of the successful award of $30,000 to develop a Canadian version of the software program AirTime. Gabriola Radio Society is seeking the services of a competent bookkeeper to provide administrative support to the project. . The Administrative Assistant provides support to all board, staff and volunteers in a variety of settings. You must provide your own computer and internet connection. . Your ultimate responsibility is the tracking and reporting of all cash flows for the Society. . Reporting & Supporting: Contract position (starting Feb 1st, 2015 until Feb 1st, 2016). . Reporting directly to the Treasurer, a Director on the Gabriola Radio Society Board (operating as CKGI or Gabriola Co-op Radio). You will be supporting the project manager for the AirTime_eh, a software development project. This project is funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada, you will provide timely and accurate reports to project managers. . The contract position pays $1000. . DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Banking, Bookkeeping & Financial • All bookkeeping activities for Gabriola Radio Society (CKGI), which is basically this project. • Payroll. • Accounts Receivables and Payables. • Assist with Project Purchasing (ie. collect bids for goods and services). • Provide support to CKGI Board, Staff or Volunteers as required re financials (ie. provide payment details as requested). • Coordinate all aspects of banking for GRS (make deposits, draft cheques). . Annual Budgets and Financial Reporting Prepare year end information in readiness for Annual Reporting. Completion of annual reports related to Society’s Act, GST Returns, etc. Liaise with accountant as required. Prepare project reports. Liaise with GRS Board members and Treasurer as required. . Website • Assist with updating CKGI.ca website in areas relevant to special events, reporting and fundraising activities. (ie. post reports). . QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: • Applied Business Technology Certificate or minimum of 2 years of applicable administrative office and bookkeeping experience. • Demonstrated skill using Simply Accounting (or equivalent). • Demonstrated skill using OpenOffice software (or equivalent). • Ability to perform duties with speed and accuracy and to work effectively under pressure with assigned deadlines. • Comfortable with the internet and email. You must provide your own computer and internet connection. • Good understanding of non-profit organizations. • Ability to assist in the coordination of fundraising and other special events. • Familiarity with the Credit Unions on line banking service an asset (for payables especially). • Knowledge of Software Development or Canadian music and spoken word radio programming an asset. .
