JOB TITLE: Rapid Response Worker (1 Full time/Permanent) and 1 Full time/Temporary) DEPARTMENT Integrated Services REPORTS TO: Family Services Supervisor DATE PREPARED: July 2 , 2013 CLOSING DATE: July 16, 2013 External Job Posting PURPOSE: The primary objective of the Metis Family Services Rapid Response Worker is to work in concert with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) child protection staff to ensure the safety and well-being of Métis children and assist in the preservation of the family unit. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Accompany & assist MCFD child protection staff with child welfare investigations involving Métis families. • Assist in the development & implementation of risk reduction planning through intensive one to one support in the home. • Offer a variety of culturally sensitive family support programs. • Promote the least disruptive measure’s philosophy & provide MCFD protection staff with viable alternatives to the removal of children if & whenever possible. • In the event of removal, the Rapid Response Worker will focus on the early return of the child/ren or seek family based alternatives to mainstream foster care. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor of Social Work degree or its equivalent, qualifications for MCFD delegation • Knowledge & appreciation of Metis/Aboriginal cultures and how these impact the development of individuals and communities • Practical knowledge of Provincial Aboriginal Operational Practice Standards and Indicators • Practical knowledge of the MCFD Risk Assessment Model for Child Protection in BC OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Must have a Criminal Record Check completed by and satisfactory to Métis Family Services. • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; Driver’s Abstract and a reliable and safe vehicle. Rate of pay: $23.47 to $27.34 per hour Start date: As soon as possible.
