Job Description SUMMARY: The Training and Development Manager is responsible for the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs intended to advance employee safety, quality and productivity. The Training and Development Manager assesses facility-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance, measure and recognize performance. Additionally, the role is to develop and enhance the business’s talent and evolve future leaders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Additional responsibilities may be assigned). Assess relevant training and development needs within an organization through job analysis, regular consultation with line supervisors, managers and department heads, and assessment methods and measurement systems. Produce organizational strategy and plans to meet training and development needs, and manage training delivery, measurement and follow-up as necessary. Stay informed to relevant skills and qualification levels required by departments for effective performance. Amend and revise programs as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment. Develop and conduct effective onboarding programs. Design a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom training, one-on-one sessions, hands-on learning and e-learning necessary to meet training needs, or manage this activity via external providers. Identify, select and manage any external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards. Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organizational and quality standards and policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws. Help line supervisors, managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups. Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with line supervisors and managers. Plan and deliver training courses personally where necessary to compliment that provided internally or externally by others. Maintain a database of employee training records to be used by management for performance appraisals and during customer audits. Develop and maintain communications, schedules, course material, e-learning courseware, training videos, etc. through a shared database and/or online department intranet. Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, be involved in leading the creation and/or delivery of e-learning courseware. Recruit, manage and develop direct-reporting training supervisors. Plan and monitor departmental training budget. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES Special project assistance in companywide activities associated with the department. Participation on the Health and Safety Committee. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for managing two Training and Development Supervisors/Instructors. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Proficient in Microsoft suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Experience of designing and delivering a variety of training solutions. Previous experience with training needs analysis. Previous experience managing a team and working alongside multiple departments. Budget management experience. Experience managing and implementing innovative projects. Experience with e-learning software such as Articulate or Adobe Captivate a plus. ________________________________________ LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and correspondence. Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to physically count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. REASONING ABILILTY Ability to define problems establishes facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
