JOB VACANCY - Job Specification Job Title: Campaign and Constituency Organiser for Adrian Sanders MP (Torbay Parliamentary Constituency) Salary: £17K to £22k dependent on skills and experience Purpose of job This role is for a highly organised self-starter requiring regular travel around the constituency (and occasionally beyond) who can communicate effectively and work closely with the MP, MP’s staff, current volunteer organiser, local party, council group and volunteers. This is a constituency-based campaigning role that will require both strong teamwork and the ability to work unsupervised. As the Full-Council, Mayoral and General Elections approach, evening and weekend work will be required of the applicant. The successful candidate must be willing to commit to a fixed term contract until May 2015. Key resonsibilities As Campaign and Constituency Organiser you will be responsible for: • Overseeing and monitoring the election strategy, plan and targets • Recruiting and managing volunteers • Organising phone canvassing sessions, leaflet deliveries and door to door canvass sessions • Organising campaigns approved by the Campaigns Committee • Overseeing and managing fundraising events • Overseeing the design and production of campaign materials, dealing with printers and suppliers as necessary • Planning, supporting and executing Election Day operations • Ensuring all volunteers and activists understand and adhere to electoral law Person Specification Essential skills and experience required: • Have strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight guidelines • Have excellent administrative, written and verbal communication skills • Have good IT skills in the areas of leaflet design and data management • Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently • Be able to grasp the political landscape of the constituency quickly • Be able to lead and motivate colleagues and activists Desirable skills and experience • Have experience of fundraising • Have experience of successful grass-roots and volunteer orientated campaigns • Be sympathetic to the aims of the Liberal Democrats Application Procedure Closing Date for applications Saturday, 30th August 2014 Interviews will be held in South Devon on Friday 19th September 2014 Start date will commence as soon as possible after interviews and references.
