JOB VACANCY: A Community Mobilisation Officer AVSI Foundation is a global non-governmental organization with headquarters in Italy. Its mission is to support human development in developing countries according to the social teaching of the Catholic Church: recognizing the uniqueness of each person, who as such cannot be reduced to a number within an anonymous category such as “the poor, the sick, the disabled”. Furthermore, every person and every community represent a resource, regardless of their vulnerability. This is why AVSI works to help people in becoming aware of their own value and dignity. AVSI is operating in South Sudan since 2005, implementing medium to long-term sustainable health, education, water & sanitation, food security and emergency relief programmes. The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable qualified South Sudanese national for the position of A community mobilization Officer. Role To increase the number of participants and as well as making them aware of importance of education with particular focus on girls rights to access education .in particular the community mobiliser will be based within the communities involving all the groups including women and youth. The community mobiliser will be based within the community in order to support and sensitize constantly the community members. Duty Station: Ikwoto CHD, Eastern Equatoria State Specific Duties: • To mobilize parents and community on the importance of education. • To sensitize parents and the community on the girl right to access education. • To mobilize PTAs in preparing school level improvement plans(open school day ,school gardens ,school compound) • Sensitize the parents on sending their children to school • To assist in school management and teachers to maintain a clean and safe classroom environment • To assist in PTA training and arise PTAs awareness on importance of education and in particular of girls participation. • Assist in identifying the priorities for future support programs for schools in the project area. • Be constantly in school and operate within the community • To mobilize and facilitate farmer field school groups creation • To carryout survey studies. Requirements Education • must have a secondary education. Knowledge and experience • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the department. •Experience in working with schools /education sector • Working experience with an NGO or private sector will be an added advantage. •Experience with working with communities at grass root level • Intensive experience to implement community involvement in implementing of programs • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • reporting experience, problem solving and diplomatic skills • Fluency in written and spoken English, Juba Arabic and Dinka as an added advantage • Women are encouraged to apply.
