JOB WELL DONE! Several members of the University Heights Police Department received letters of commendation from the Chief of Police for their investigation of a residential burglary that resulted in the apprehension of a dangerous criminal believed to be responsible for several crimes in the Greater Cleveland area. On March 24th at about 1:00 p.m., UHPD officers responded to a residential alarm on Tullamore Rd. and found that the house had just been burglarized. During their preliminary investigation, the officers obtained video from a residential security surveillance system which revealed that the burglar was armed with a handgun when he broke into the house. The investigation was turned over to UHPD Detectives who doggedly pursued leads which resulted in the identification of Troy Lacey, 20, of Richmond Heights, as the perpetrator. At 4:00 p.m. on March 25th, just 30 hours after the Tullamore burglary, Lacey was arrested in Cleveland by UHPD Detectives. A follow-up investigation led to the recovery of stolen property and evidence linking Lacey to other crimes in University Heights, as well as other cities.
