JOIN OUR TEAM!! Wave Crest Hotels and Resorts was created in November, 2010. We evolved from Wave Crest Enterprises, a development company that traces its origins to the 1980s and was responsible for the development of several residential and commercial buildings in North County San Diego, primarily in the hospitality field. These properties include the Wave Crest Resort in Del Mar, The Tamarack Beach Resort in Carlsbad and the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad, all currently owned by Wave Crest Enterprises. Wave Crest Hotels and Resorts goal is to manage its hotels successfully through unsurpassed dedication to guest service and financial acumen, to be renowned for its outstanding quality as well as for its ability to meet -- and exceed -- owners expectations. LINE COOK SUMMARY: Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers. 2. Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare over estimated needs. 3. Date all food containers and rotate as per SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures 4. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked. 5. Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables. 6. Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss and usage per SOP. 7. Assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments as required for the next shift. 8. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: EDUCATION: High school education or equivalent experience EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-2 years of cooking experience in food service (restaurant, in room dining, banquets) or related work experience. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to efficiently produce an excellent product following all health and safety requirements Ability to operate, maintain, properly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment Ability to understand and follow directives Good verbal and written English communication skills Must have excellent guest service skills Must be a positive, collaborative team player with high personal integrity and professional. Must have excellent knife handling skills Must have County of San Diego Food Handler card. Must be able to lift, pull and push at least 75 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of times. Must be able to periodically work in a warm to hot environment. Hours Required: Scheduled days and times may vary as needed.
