JOMO THOMAS DISAPPOINTS I must say that I am to the point that listening to the Parliamentary is not something I miss at all. Generally I cant as I am at work or otherwise. I saw a clip of Jomo Sanga Thomas response to the Oppositions presentation and could not believe a man who previously was sharp on exposing the poor management of the countrys resources would claim that the Opposition dont provide solutions. I hear a lot of that being said by the Proposition and echoed by many in the population. It must first be clearly stated that the Proposition is the part of government that prepares the estimates and decides where and how the resources will be distributed. The role of the Opposition is to question how the resources are distributed and ensure that it is done properly et cetera. There is no role for the Opposition to give solutions at all. Why would you give your competitor in a race your good running shoes whilst you run bare-feet? Amazingly though the Proposition who should be taking care of the peoples business continues to operate clandestinely. In so doing the Opposition is denied oversight of what is happening and thus there is too much avenue for questionable activities as clearly seen with Petrocaribe and Argyle Airport Project. The Opposition would be foolish to devise solutions and hand it to the Proposition. In a democracy it is not a One Party State where both Opposition Proposition is non-differentiated but rather each is attempting to be the one that controls the peoples business. It offer competitiveness and allows the people to know what is being done with its resources. Jomo has loss his bearing and I trust that he take heed or else all his previous writings, which are still accessible, would be a very heavy weight on his shoulders. Possibly the weight is already preventing him from moving forward because he seems to be slipping backwards.
