JONATHAN THE SOLE CANDIDATE So, the PDP Governors, National - TopicsExpress

JONATHAN THE SOLE CANDIDATE So, the PDP Governors, National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, Women group and the Senate have deemed it fit in their political wisdom that President Goodluck Jonathan is the best candidate their party can present for next years presidential election. The People unDemocratic Party thus infers that nobody should contest against the incumbent President as news have it the son of former Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa who expressed interest have been told to put his ambitions in check for now. It is only in Nigeria that a microscopic few sit down in some cubicle to decide and enforce actions on the vast majority without any regard for the rule of law. Now I ask myself this question. What has happened to Governors Babangida Aliyu of Niger state and Sule Lamido of Jigawa state presidential ambitions? At least they were the frontliners in the quest to ensure Mr. President honours his agreement of one term in office and then make way for others to contest on a level playing ground. My guess is as good as yours, they have traded their birth rights for the biblical porridge. I wont be surprised if they like most of the other governors in their statutory second and last term in office emerge the partys sole candidate for the Senate. Afterall, that is where governors now go to after spending eigth years looting their state treasury. The Senate president already gave Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state an unofficial welcome to the Red chambers last year while Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state is already warming up for the Delta South Senatorial race. The same Uduaghan that has failed thus far to even equal let alone better his predecessor, James Ibori developmental record.s The state capital, Asaba cannot stand a downpour of five minutes, the whole streets will be under water. So, you can imagine how Warri, Ughelli, Sapele and other cities, towns and villages in the state would fare when the sky cries. It is not only asinine, but equally insulting to think Uduaghan would even think he can represent his clans let alone a whole Senatorial constituency with the very abysmal record he already posted as the state governor. These things can only happen in a country like Nigeria anyway. In sane climes, Dr. Uduaghan would be preparing to face prosecution after handling over on May 29th 2015, following in the steps of his ernswhile boss and benefactor who imposed him on Deltans. How he won the case at the Court of Appeal is better left not talked about before one BOT chairman starts looking for a scape goat that poses no harm. I no mention names ooo. And talking of Senator David Mark, it seems as if the retired soldier from Benue state wants to become a life time Senator. He has been a lawmaker in the Red Chambers since the advent of this new (UN)democracy in Nigeria. He is suddenly the government in power go-to man and he revels that influence of his. His stance on Jonathan candidacy does not surprise me though, but I am shocked even the PDP senators in their supposedly learned mind could share the same opinion with the governors that Goodluck Jonathan is still the best their party can produce, thereby putting to bed any chance of having someone give him a good run for his money at the partys primaries. It is not only intimidating but an utter disregard of party members rights of franchise. In his own acceptance speech, the President expressed shock and called the unanimous adoption an atomic bomb! Thank goodness he didnt call it mysterious or miraculous. He further promised to triple what his administration has done in the first term. Now that is where my main fears lie. I do not want him to triple the rate at which one person sits on Pensions money and steals N23bn only to term it just N23bn. I do not want a President that will triple the rate at which Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria steal public funds to purchase bullet proof vehicles for their own personal use. I do not want a President that deploys soldiers in their thousands for the purpose of elections only to deploy a paltry hundreds of them to confront well harmed terrorists. I do not want a President that would wait for a seventeen year old girl from the Middle East to tell him its time he visited the Chibok girls parents before he thinks he should do the obvious. I do not want a President who waits for Washington Post editorials to write news about my country before he acts. The list goes on and on. Sadly, that is the President we are likely to have next year owing to how difficult or near impossible it is to unseat an incumbent President going by the stats available, coupled with the not-too-hidden desperation the man Goodluck Jonathan has shown of late. Oh Nigeria, there was a country!!! Like a columnist, Imoh the Son of David wrote: If you want something to arouse your irritation, look no further, just start discussing Nigeria The guys is absolutely spot on! ...gcon219...
